My surname is Hain but my gg grandfather was born  Hyne, his father was Hean with siblings having various spellings on birth records and also his father being Heyne at one point. What surname should i put in "surname at birth" field?  Should i use Hain as that is the most recent spelling or should i really enter what is on each persons birth record, even though further records have something different?.....Thanks for taking time to read.

You should put the last name that was on the birth or baptism record for each individual. If they changed the spelling later in life you can recort that in current last name or the other name fields.
