Josiah Bradshaw's parents, two possibilities

Morning (here) Cousins,

I'm having trouble determining who are the parents of Josiah Bradshaw. Family Search has conflicting trees. I have him attached to Larnar (Bradshaw-1731) and his wife Anna (Bradshaw-1730), and some trees on Family Search have this connection. (The profile of Larnar has a Family Search tree as its source.)

Other trees, however, have another couple that I had seen in earlier research in the 90s (without sources, but the reseach of a Geoirge J. Rogers), William Bradshaw (1690-1748) and his wife, Judith Scruggs (d. abt 1749). General info which I have not added to Josiah's profile yet follows:

An Ancestry source is Virginia Compiled Marriages:

Name:	Josiah Bradshaw
Spouse:	Elizabeth Armistead
Marriage Date:	20 Dec 1763
Marriage Location:	Cumberland County, Virginia

Burke County (NC) Court Minutes 1799=1807 Part I C.R.014.310.3, p. 444, show Josiah living there in 1809.

I can find no confirming sources either way for his parents. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't count, too heavily, on that Burke, North Carolina source, unless he turns out to be the son of the one your searching for.  The Burke Josiah Bradshaw was married in 1816 to an Elizebeth Higdon (https://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=NCMarriages&h=2573275&indiv=try&o_vc=Record:OtherRecord&rhSource=8909).  There was also another North Carolina Josiah Bradshaw married to a Betsey Hogan on 7 Aug 1789 (https://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=NC-MarriageRecords&h=631823&indiv=try&o_vc=Record:OtherRecord&rhSource=3143).

I'm not sure exactly which Josiah Bradshaw you are working on. But here are some things to ponder.

William Bradshaw, who died before 15 Sep 1747 in Goochland Co VA and his wife Judith Scruggs did have a son named Josiah. The proof is in Cumberland County VA Deed Book 1, p 30-38. These are four separate deeds written on the same date (24 Jul 1749) from Field Bradshaw, eldest son of William Bradshaw dec, to Field's brothers Charles, John, and Josiah Bradshaw and their brother in law Field Robinson.

This Josiah Bradshaw was a resident of Bedford Co VA on 25 Feb 1774 when he and his brother William Bradshaw, along with their wives Elizabeth and Susanna, sold part of this same land to John Hobson of Cumberland Co.  (Cumberland Co VA Deed Book 5, p 232-233) Elizabeth wife of Josiah and Susannah wife of William had not signed away the dower, so their consent was made on 4 Mar 1774 in Bedford Co and recorded in Cumberland Co Deed Book 5, p 262.

I believe this Josiah Bradshaw in Bedford Co in 1774 is the one who married Elizabeth Armistead in Cumberland Co in 1763.

These Bradshaw profiles are a mess. I wish you luck sorting out the problems.

Yes, the Bradshaw profiles are a mess, and I don’t know how I’ll ever get to them as I have to work on cleaning up mine with bios and sources. However, you have certainly given me some leads that I didn’t have before. Thanks!

the family tree on Ancestry has his Parents as Larner and Anna.
