Is there a way to see if any of your direct ancestors profiles are orphaned?

Yes, in the upper right hand corner of your profile, go to your name-xxx, and drop down to "orphaned family".

Yes, unfortunately it includes great uncles and aunts too. I was thinking there may a version of this tool that only looks at direct ancestors.
