Can a non profile manager initiate a merger?

I have found two couples who are duplicates. None of them are sourced. I am not the profile manager. Can I initiate the merger? Is it up to the profile managers to approve or disapprove? The tree is really messed up, maybe beyond repair. I have documents to prove both are wrong.

Yes you can. I've done it MANY times. Just explain why they need to be merged.

Yes you can initiate the merge. If you do it is good practice to ensure the merge is completed if it goes to default approval. Make sure you list the reasons you think they should be merged and ensure you can find the documents needed again in case the profiles are not merged quickly.
