Help needed regarding Acadian practice of being know by middle name

+4 votes

How do I enter Acadian names into WikiTree so the middle name displays as the name the person was customarily known as.  Specifically, I would like to identify many of my ancestors a J MiddleName LastName and M MiddleName LastName; to eliminate confusion caused by the Acadian religious practice of naming so many of their children Joseph and Mary.

I would like males such as Joseph Lucien LastName displayed as J Lucien LastName, and females such as Mary Marguerite LastName displayed as M Marguerite LastName.

Also, need to know how to enter data to display an individual know my their "third" name, J T Romeo LastName.

There are the following fields that you can enter names into:

Proper First Name:
Public information Preferred Name:
Public information Other Nicknames:
Public information Middle Name:

I would put the birth name into the Proper Name Field, the customarliy Known name will go into the Preferred Name Field, The Third Name would go into the Other Nicknames Field and the Middle Name in the Middle Name Field.

The Title Line of the Profile will have the Preferred Name first.. The Name Line will have the First Name Middle Name and Preferred Name in between the Parentheses (). The Third Name would be listed AKA "Romeo"

You can enter the name any way you want in the text section of the profile.
