In honour of Canada Day, this week's featured Newfoundland Project profile is that of Joey Smallwood---a colorful character, and prolific writer---who lobbied long and hard to get Newfoundland to join Canada in 1949. He was the first premier of Newfoundland, and held the position from 1949 to 1972, instituting educational development as well as a number of controversial economic development, and resettlement initiatives.

Any improvements to the profile of Joey Smallwood (or linked profiles and pages, you'd like to make) would be welcome, of course! And if you know of a profile of an interesting or famous or notable Newfoundlander; or you've worked on a Newfoundlander's profile you're proud of, or you've just seen a great profile or page that you think needs recognition---send me a link, and I'll maybe put it up for a featured profile!
