complete loss for marriage

Question

I am at a complete lose in finding a marriage between 1851 and 1861 between Henry Willshire(Wilsher, Wiltshire, Wilshire) and Emma both born around 1830 in North Petherton

Their eldest child was born in 1853 in North Petherton

the only marriage I found was in 1852 in Kidderminster which to me seems highly unlikely

Found Charles's birth, Mar qtr 1853, spelling WILLSHIRE.  Mother's maiden name IRISH.

An Emma Irish married in Bridgwater district, but that was in 1861 and she didn't marry Henry.

Another Emma Irish married in 1851, but in Kensington.

A Mary Amelia Irish married in Bridgwater district in Mar 1853, same qtr as the birth, possible husband Richard WILTSHIRE.

A Jane Wiltshire was the other bride on the same page.

Messy.  More poking around needed.

How odd.  There was a Charles WILTSHIRE born in Bridgwater district Dec qtr 1855, and his mother's name was also IRISH.

Found a possible match for the births of the two girls, in Bridgwater district, but the mother's maiden name on those is Baker.

Which would match with the Kidderminster marriage.

Wondering if Charles was a nephew not a son.

Right.  I figure, Henry gets Mary Amelia Irish pregnant, panics, runs off to Kidderminster.

There, he bumps into a girl he knows from back home, Emma Baker.  They get married.

Meanwhile, back home, Henry's brother Richard marries Mary Amelia just in time to make her respectable before the baby's born.

Then Henry and Emma come back home and grab Henry's baby from his mother and raise him themselves.

Or something.

Willshire Charles born Bridgwater [district which covers North Petherton], Volume 5c, Page 467, March quarter 1853, mother's maiden name IRISH

By the way, there are quite a lot of IRISHes in North Petherton

Not sure this is the right christening. Emma Sophia Irish, age 34 daughter of William Irish, married Abraham Philips on 6 January 1861 in North Petherton - source Somerset, England, Marriage Registers, Bonds and Allegations, 1754-1914 Somerset Heritage Service; Taunton, Somerset, England; Somerset Parish Records, 1538-1914; Reference Number: D\P\pet.n/2/1/13 on Ancestry.

As RJ notes above, the GRO index suggests that the Emma in the 1861 census could be Emma Baker mother of the 2 girls, but Charles seems to have a different mother with the surname Irish but an unknown first name.

Try ordering the birth certificate for the eldest child so you can work out who the mother is.

Something I still can not get the hang of is the GRO record sevice on trying to find mother's maiden name normally I am a quick learner but that I just do not get

Maybe I need someone to take me through it step by step :)

Go to gro.gov.uk. Select Order certificates online. Select Search the GRO historical birth and death indexes. Login or if you have not used it before create a userid. Then just follow the boxes on the search screen. You have to specify male or female and you can only search up to two years either side of the year that you enter.

OK, here goes.
1. Go to https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/default.asp
2.  Click on "Search the GRO historical birth and death indexes etc"
3.  Log in (or create an account)
4.  You are taken to a screen called "What would you like to do?"
5.  Click on "Search the GRO Indexes" (the first one)
6.  Choose whether you want to search births or deaths (it doesn't do marriages).  Let's say births for now.
7.  Then you get taken to the search page.  Notice that you need to search using surname first i.e. Haywood, Ros
8.  Include which gender
9.  Type in the date (i.e.1855) and make sure you click on 2 years either side
10. Don't put in anything else. 
11.  Press the Search button
12.  Scroll down to see the results
13.  The mother's maiden name is on the right-hand side.
