Civil War categorization

Could someone tell me what would be the appropriate categorization or sticker for Jehoida N. Phillips (Phillips-18115)?  He enlisted on 25 September 1861 at Freedom Illinois in Company A of the Illinois 64th Infantry Regiment, and was killed in action, 4 Oct 1862 at Corinth, Miss.

Specifically, I don't understand the difference between the following two categories:

  • Died in Military Service, United States of America, United States Civil War
  • Killed in Action, United States of America, United States Civil War
Thanks,
Ken

Died in Military Service is for someone who died from noncombat related injuries, ie desease, heart attack ...

Killed in Action is for a combat related death.

I hope this helps.
