I wish to link to WikiTree profiles from an third party website, using the WikiTree brand image.  What are the protocols and copyright implications.

Your "/commisioners.html" link is 404. Maybe updated since you were last there. How 'bout:

Thanks Bruce, you are absolutely right...  sorry folks wrong link posted!
Andrew, I added 'widgets' and 'policy' tags to your question. Hopefully you get the answers you need. Nice web site!

Not sure of your desire.  Do you want to use that link in a WikiTree Profile or do want to link a WikiTree Profile to a name on that site?

If you want to link from that site in a WikiTree Profile, you can link as a Source EX: <ref>DSA Commissioners on BSAP website  http://www.bsap.org/hiscommissioners.html </ref> next to the appropriate data in the Bio.  Or if you want folks to go and see the site as an additional information point you can do this: Just make sure there is a space between the url and all characters except the brackets [ ] or it won't be recognized as a url or cause an error when they click on it.

For more information on the BSA, see [http://www.bsap.org/hiscommissioners.html BSA Commissioners].

To use a Profile from WikiTree on that site, you would need to copy the WikiTree url and paste it where they permit you to add such links and in the manner proscribed by them.  Also, is such linking permitted on that site? You would need to contact them.

Andrew,

There are WikiTree widgets available for bloggers and webmasters to use. On each WikiTree profile, click on the drop down menu by their Wiki ID then go to Family Tree & Genealogy Tools. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the Wiki Tree Tools and then Family Tree Widgets. The graphics are quite large though and may not be suitable for linking from your website. (Which is very nice, by the way.)

What I would like to see available for use is something more like this:

https://wp.me/a4qghI-JY

Where the name links to the WikiTree profile. I canibalized a Contributions widget to do it. I don’t know if it is allowed however. :-D

Perhaps if you add a wikitree_widgets, policy and/or wikitree_tech tag to your query, someone in the know can advise if we are allowed to use the widget graphics to make our own style widgets.
