Thanks all!  Yes, I knew and was raised around my maternal grandfather. my only father figure.  He passed away in 1980, I was 10.  He was a quite man and probably was shy at that age haha.  I did not get to know his mother Alma who died in 1940, but have recently been able to take the Trautmann line back father than my ggg-grandparents who arrived in 1872 from Ober-Kainsbach, Hesse to my 6th great grandparents of Ober-Kainsbach.

The little fella in this photo reminds me of.... me! I (barely) remember a photographer coming to our home to take some family photos. My mom kept trying to get me to smile. The evidence shows I didn’t!
