Jean Besset or Bessède dit Brisetout came to Canada as par of Carignan-Salières regiment.  His marriage act is lost, and his marriage contract doesn't name his parents.  He is known to be from Cahors in Guyenne.  Any help on the other side of the big pond would be appreciated.

It says on Geni.com that his father was Jean Bessin 1627-1700.

Does Geni.com provide any evidence?  They are a family tree maker company, and a family tree is not evidence of accuracy.  We need an actual source document of some sort.

I looked at the Archives of the department of Lot for the baptismal record. I checked all the parishes of Cahors and none of them have records as far back as 1642. Earliest is around 1660
