Shared Photo: Old Ma's Grave. Reads: Mrs Alcide Bertrand. Should have Nancy Sarver

+9 votes

The heads6one reads: Mrs. Alcide Bertrand, born June 18, 1871, died June 11, 1949. It is barely legible. It is a concrete stone with the information dug into it. No mention of her maiden name: Nancy Saver. Would anyone in this family be willing to help to correct this?

I wanted to share this family photo of Nancy Bertrand with the community. Location: Jennings Cemetary, Jennings, Louisiana. Date: Jul 2018.

Those old concrete stones just don’t hold up, do they? Well, that’s true for other materials, too. sad  Makes me want to get a Dremmel on them, but then I’d probably make a mistake reading them.

At least this cemetery is well kept.

Hi, Gayle!

It looks like what you're asking is for someone who has access to Nancy Bertrand's WikiTree profile to please make a correction on her page from the (apparently mistaken) maiden name of "Sarver" to the correct maiden name of "Saver."  Is this correct?

Such a correction can be made by a WikiTree member, ideally once some solid source evidence is available.  Since this concrete marker is not so clear, do you have any other sources that agree that Nancy's maiden name is actually "Saver" and not "Sarver"?  If you do, then this is truly a straightforward correction for a WikiTree member to make.  :-)

Thanks so much for sharing this photo, too--it's wonderful to have the photograph which preserves the writing and the way it looks now.  Hopefully the gravesite will be cleaned up and cared for in the future, but if not, at least there is this photograph.
