Merging not working

We are trying to merge Joyce-1279 and Joyce-1878 but get an error, referring to permission issues. Considering Kerry initiated the merge herself and I just approve it, I am not able to understand what the problem is.

This looks like a very big "uh-oh" in the same type of error that has been the topic of several G2G posts since the recent privacy changes that we understand are legally necessary although create a great impedance to our work.

The other posts I have seen about this have all involved 1 open profile and 1 private profile being merged, where only the manager of the private one is able to complete the merge.

This one, however has 2 private profiles, so it appears the each of the managers has to be the one to complete the merge ... begging the question of how it is possible for 2 people to each be THE ONE person.  Further complicating this is the fact that one of the two profiles is unlisted, so I don't know how the system will ever permit the normal merge action of both managers co-managing the resulting profile.

Carl, I think your best bet is to write to info@wikitree.com about this.  You could also edit your question and add the tag:  sysops  that is likely to bring this question to their attention.

I think it is because the profiles do not have the same privacy, I believe it is that the profile manager with the "highest" degree of protection needs to complete the merge, in this case, the manager of https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Joyce-1878

Joyce-1279 is the profile of an active WikiTreer (as of today, apparently).

You should contact her first regarding this proposed merge.

Generally if one approves a merge request then you need to complete it. I have not had any problem with the fact that a profile is unlisted as long as both parties are on the trusted list it can be done, so if you are both managers then there should be no problem. The one who proposes the merge must hold back and the one who accepts it gets to complete it! Go to privacy, scroll down and check who is on the trusted list for the profile, if you are both managers or on the trusted list it should go through without any problem, I have merged some unlisted profiles recently with no problem at all, so it can be done.
