I am thinking about removing my information from this site, since I can't a response for some help … trying to get answers are more difficult than on Face Book. I am not going to write the whole situation again for nothing. When I am contacted, by someone that can help me. I will deal with them. If I don't hear back in several days I will accept the fact that no one cares.

Take a deep breath.  I feel your pain.  I waited and waited for a response on two merges.  I did some research.  Finally I posted in this forum about them.  That did the trick.

The 30 days is almost up now and the mergers should go through.   And I can move on to cleaning up the next mess : )

Hi Garry! I was looking through your more recent activity and noticed you were leaving some profile messages - in general I find them to be less visible than the G2G forums, which may be why nobody is responding (though it is usually the correct place to put them unless you have a question.) I don't particularly see any G2G posts asking for help from anyone, though? Just this one.

I don't particularly think that nobody cares. It could just be that nobody had seen your messages, or there are no descendants of those people on Wikitree in general or active on Wikitree right now. I find Wikitreers to be very helpful if they can help with the situation. However, some things sometimes get lost in the crowd of information present.

The important part is to not give up. You never know when people will come your way to help you out!

Specifically in the case of James Stewart: do you know any other descendants of him, especially genealogists, who could fill in information? Maybe 2nd cousins or farther out? He is the one who you are actively looking for information on - I have no idea what to do when people are unresponsive to a merge (like for William Hewes!)

If merging is part of the problem with inactive members then you can follow the process in the help pages, not sure how to add it as a link on here though, sorry
Thanks Lindy :-)

What kind of help do you need, and where have you gone to ask for it?  This is the place to get help, so welcome to G2G!  Post your question and stand by for a flood of helpful answers.

ETA:  On your profile, I can see you posted a message on your own profile asking for help.  Only people checking out your profile will see that.

You also posted a message on the profile of William Hewes.  Unfortunately, the manager of that profile hasn't been active since 2016, so again probably no one saw your message.

To repeat:  G2G is the place to get help.  Lots of eyes on your questions here!

Garry,

Asking your questions on G2G is a great place to start. As Herb noted, the person you were trying to contact might not be active.

Not being sure what your questions are, I took a look at James Stewart. By using the Research from the pull down menu under Stewart-23690 I went to FamilySearch. Here’s the source citation for his will. An image of the will is available

West Virginia Will Books, 1756-1971," database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QJD5-N3D8 : 12 March 2018), James Steward, 1817; citing Hardy, West Virginia, United States, Will book, v. 02 1812-1818, page 294, county courthouses, West Virginia; FHL microfilm 816,672.

Agree with Herbert and Liz.... You've found the right place to ask your questions so bring them on! Most of us love helping someone with a challenge or a brick wall, it's what G2G forum is about :-)

Add tags to your questions too, this will quickly bring them to the attention of the right people who can help you the best... For example I'm in the UK and all questions Tagged with United Kingdom appear on my direct feed immediately and on my daily activity e-mail, if I can help these questioners then I will!
