Marilda Stephens is my great-great-grandmother. She IS a first cousin of Alexander Stephens, and daughter of Nehemiah Stephens. Marilda's son and my great-grandfather, Marion, shared many things about our ancestors. Did you know that Nehemiah fought in the Seminole Indian Wars or that he moved to Tennessee for a while to be near two of his sisters.

Your tree for Melvin agrees with my records. Walter's parents were Americus Sylvanus (Van) Pressley and Alice Virginia Holcombe. Van's parents were Adam and Marilda.

Concerning Nehemiah, his death date and cause are unknown, but he was most likely in or near Lumpkin County, Georgia in the late 30s since his daughter was attending a private school in Dahlonega. Also his nephew, Alex, was handling land transactions at that time in Lumpkin County.
