Welcome to G2G!
First, find the profile for the ancestor. If the profile is open, it will have an Edit tab where you can go to make changes. If the profile is locked or project-protected, you will have to seek permission to edit it.
In any case, it's good practice (and good manners) to contact the profile manager before making any significant changes.
