Just a little clarification.  This particular microfilm is just the Guion Miller Roll  of 1909; no other rolls are included on the film.  The “Eastern Cherokee” referred to are those Cherokee (or their descendants) who were still living in the Cherokee Nation in the east in 1835 regardless of where they lived in 1907.  The actual applications are full of genealogical detail and are available on Fold3.

The Siler and Chapman Rolls were created in 1851/2  to identify Cherokee who remained in the East after Removal who were entitled to payment.  Siler missed a lot of people, so the Chapman Roll is a better source.  It also is one of the first lists to show all members of a family, not just heads of households.

The Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma continued to accept late arrivals as citizens until 1896.  The U.S. government continued to pay transportation and subsistence and many of the Cherokee who had remained in the east moved west after the Civil War.  Some moved for land, others due to racism in the southern states.  A group of about 100,mostly from North Carolina, removed together in 1881.
