Brickwall Burrell Wells, b. abt 1751, poss. Amelia Co., Va.

Hola, Primos!

Have a brick wall here. Burrell Wells, born abvout 1751, possibly in Amelia County, Virginia (no source), died in Lincoln County, NC, USA, on 9 December 1827. He is buried at the Wells Cemetery in Gaston County, NC. The cemetery is misnamed on the Findagrave website as the Abee Cemetery.

I have not completed the profile yet: marriage to my ancestress Susannah Featherstone and a later marriage after her death, plus children. I'm just doing the direct line right now. I've included all the Family Search sources I could find, but I believe I remember hearing of a will and/or estate sale records. He died too early to apply for a Rev. War pension (if he served).

If Burrell was born in Amelia County, does anyone know of recourses there that would prove his parentage? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have Burwells in some of the trees I research - a research librarian (in Leesburg, I think it was, at the Thomas Balch Library) told me it was pronounced Burl. So Burrell & Burwell could both be variations of the name.

I know I am coming to this party late but maybe I can shed some light on this.

I have a Burwell Wells b. 1751 in Amelia County, VA and Died 1827 in Lincoln County, NC. In my tree he is the son of William Wells b. 20 Oct. 1728 in Dinwiddie County, VA and  d. 10 Jul 1825 in Chesterfield, Co. VA.

All Wells' in this line have test YDNA positive for E-V13 and are grouped as W-023 in the FTDNA Wells Project.

What is interesting is that she has a brother named Burrell....I wonder if it is a mother's maiden name back a few generations?

I have Wells in Prince Edward County VA, also connect to a current day surname Wells, of same line. I don't have a definite connection to your Burrell, but the time frame fits. WE have decent Amelia records in VA.
