A Quick Introduction

Having just found WikiTree, I made my first profile about a week ago.  Although I have been researching my family tree for about 25 years and used a variety of products both online and off, I am enjoying starting fresh.  It highlights where I need to dig for further sourcing, and that's good.  My favorite aspects of WikiTree are the one tree concept and the sourced information.

My family tended to settle somewhere and stay there for generations, and my immediate family still lives in that general area, so I was very lucky in the infancy of my research without internet sources.  But, the internet has allowed me to expand much further past where I thought I could before.  I look forward to making more connections as more of my tree is added.  My four main lines are Clark, Lynndelle, Starbird and Wyman.

Already, I have been blessed here by folks eager to help me work through issues.  Thank you all for making me feel so welcomed.

Welcome! Those are the things I like about Wikitree, too. It takes a bit longer, but it allows us to get more in depth. We're glad you're here :)
Welcome.  You have a great attitude and I wish you success.  Good luck!

Welcome J Clark! I have been on here for 11 months. I too have done a lot of research prior and have used other programs some of it before the internet became a viable tool. I also decided to start fresh and really take a closer look at my sources. I've been able to find some mistakes as well as strengthen some relationships.

I like that this is much more comprehensive in its approach. I can see at a glance what is proven and what needs more research. What has amazed me is the layers of depth. At first I just wanted to put everyone up as fast as I could until I realized that this is about quality over quantity. I have found resources I would not have looked through previously had I not slowed it down. I keep going back to the same core family groups every time I find new layers of resources to fill out the biographies even more. I have found that I love really digging in to find out everything I can about who these people were that came before me.

Blessings in your research!

Welcome! You've come to a great community to do your research. And, like others have said, you come with the right attitude. Genealogy should be done with care and WT encourages that. Nothing is instant and wouldn't make you feel like you accomplished something worthwhile if it was.
