I believe this Marquet profile might not be the one you intended to link; this John Marquet had a son James born in England in 1773.

Doug, You have three questions about the same family.

If I understand, we start with the Census of Canada 1871 ...

Marquet John, age 68, Birth Ontario, Origin French (= Québec ?)
Mary his wife, age 58, Birth Ontario, Origin French (= Québec) ?)
Children: Edward 20 , Joseph 18, Lucinda 10

http://data2.collectionscanada.ca/1871/jpg/4396691_00433.jpg

So, nothing about England here and
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Marquet-22
is a wrong profile to start with

According of the Census of Canada, John was born in Lower Canada

So, John could be Jean Baptiste

Marquet could be a 'dit' name, Marquet is a 'dit' name for Benoit

John was born about 1802

I have found:

Jean Baptiste Benoit,
Born 11 Mar 1802 in Les Cèdres, Bas-Canada
Son of Jean Baptiste Benoit and Josephe Poulin

"Québec, registres paroissiaux catholiques, 1621-1979," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G99S-PS8N?cc=1321742&wc=9RLZ-82S%3A15389801%2C15389802%2C15683801 : 16 July 2014), Les Cèdres > Saint-Joseph-de-Soulanges > Baptêmes, mariages, sépultures 1774, 1796-1803 > image 278 of 330; Archives Nationales du Quebec (National Archives of Quebec), Montreal.
