I am trying to trace back the Gilmore family tree back to the 1st generation of Americans, their point of landing in the U.S./Canada, the name of the ship they came came in on, as well as their ancestors and where they came from in Ireleand/Scotland.
What I know is my Great great great grandfather was named Ephraim Gilmore b. 2/28/1829 d between 1889&1907? Ephraim was married Margaret Mulvaney. They begat my Great great grandfather George Gilmore b. 8/9/1868, d. 2/14/1931. Ephraim And Margaret's other children were John Edward, Harry J., and Sidney M. George married Laura Fox on 6/30/1894, b. 7/5/1879 d.3/20/1964. They lived around Ontario, California, and probably moved their from the midwest (possibly ,IL). Their son was Robert Lee Gilmore ( my grandfather b. 7/14/1895 d.11/25/1949. George and Laura's other children were Marguerite(Laidlaw) b. 12/26/1896, Kathryn(Burke) b.2/22/1903, and Betty (Epperson)b.5/23/1913. Robert Lee married Ellen Lehan b.10/2/1892 d.8/8/1979 They resided in Peoria ,IL. Robert Lee and Ellen had 3 children: Robert Lee (my father) b. 1/8/1923 d. 8/15/2005, Margaret b. 8/15/1924, and Elizabeth b.8/1/1925.
In searching, I found an Ephraim Gilmore (I'm not sure if he's directly in the paternal line) b. 11/18/1751 d.7/6/1822 in New London Twp, PA, This Ephraim was supposedly a Captain in George Washington's army. He married a Arabella Curry b. 6/23/1753 d.9/10/1824 in Chester Cty., PA. Ephraim and Arabella had 2 sons Ephraim and Robert T.
