Shared Photo: John MASKEY details of Hulk Imprisonment 30-3-1805

I wanted to share this photo of just where John Maskey was for the missing time between his sentencing and his arrival in the Colony nearly 2 years after that date. This by chance record find told me exactly where he was.

He was on the Prison Hulk "CAPTIVITY" moored at Portsmouth.  He arrived there on the 3oth March 1805 and was taken from there to The Duke Of Portland on the 2nd January 1807 and his new ship set sail on the 7th January and arrived in Sydney on the 27th July 1807.

A 22 month voyage..

I love this picture because it is a mystery. The details of John Maskey's imprisonment are captivating. A wonderful read.

But another mystery for me was - the picture. I was looking for a picture. I read the description and thought - OH - it has been solved and I will see a picture.

But alas, to my surprise, there was no photo. Yet - I was enlightened even more when I clicked on "just where John Maskey" when I discovered the story.

I'm glad you liked his profile, I know the picture maybe a bit disappointing but I intend to get the full photo into his Images folder in time.

If I made it any bigger than what is there, it was way out of focus so badly, you could not read it at all.
