Why did my great grandfather Meyer Dolginoff bring his children with him when he originally came to the United States?

I think Lauren is right. My husband's German ancestors came in the late 1800s.  He was here a year before his wife and four young children made the trip. It must have been difficult for everyone.

From reading the biography, best guess would be to get situated in a new country, residency, job, make sure all is well for family to follow.  Probably more difficult with wife and children to worry over until settled.  :-)
