How to be added as trusted person on my Dad's line?

+8 votes
A distant cousin of mine has been on WikiTree for awhile, and I just got into it. He has created a profile for my Dad, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather, but has not added me as a trusted person for them despite a number of polite requests over the past ten days or so. I know that he has seen the requests, but he has not responded to me.
What do I do?

Be sure he has your email address.  I couldn't add a family member to
her Dad until I got it from her,  then I backed out as manager.  I hope for the same for you.  It sounds like you are being the mature person in this relationship.
Mr. Tucker has not been active since the first of February.  You need to file an unresponsive profile manager request.
How do I do that?

Yeah the best way is to keep asking nicely, maybe add in the comments that you have some photos to share or that you would like to update the biography and sources.

The bad way to do it is you could always make a whole new profile then request a merge then wait 30 days then complete the merge then you will be a profile manager too.  But that is not a good way to do things.

You can leave comments and memories on the page even if your not on trusted list.

Good luck!

It is against Wikitree policy to deliberately create duplicates.
David, I see you already have a merge pending between a profile you started, Moberly-415 and Moberly-40. What is the status of that?

Welcome to Wikitree David, I would suggest that you ask your mentor or intergrator for assitence. Failing that I would say go to your Help on the top of your page, scroll down to "Problems with members" and lodge a complaint there, you will receive assistance.

Really bad not to hand over the entire management of someone's father and grandfather to them unless you are also child or grandchild. I wouldn't like it one bit.

Don't know there is a request.

Don't know how to add once request is found

Add people to trusted list then find out they took you off as manager

On any profile in question, towards the bottom of the page on the right side column, in the Collaboration section, there's a link called "request to join the Trusted List"

The manager will then be notified by email, and there will be a link included in that email to approve.

Otherwise, on the "My WikiTree" menu, click on "requests" menu item, and it will show any outstanding Trusted List requests waiting for approval.

I do not believe any Trusted List member can remove you as manager. Only a co-manager can do that. (I could be mistaken on this detail).

You can promote Trusted List members to be co-managers, but I'd suggest not doing that unless you know the person very well.

Thank you
