perry surname is a nightmare

Question

I have been trying to find a mother's maiden name for John Perry born about 1851 along with his siblings Emma, Ann, Samuel, Sarah and Lydia without success

This is him in 1851 in Somerset

i h ave a john -perry om my tree,but not from the place you mention, but you could still check it out, john-francis-perry,married 1826,,jemima holt born 1804 broadwinsor ,they had son john born abt 1831 married 24/6.1855 broadwinsor,.elizabeth-lee ,she was buried 4/4/1870 wyke regis-dorset ,  i haven/t researched the children of either couple,  john was widowed by 1871 census,living in weymouth -dorset  good luck with research,  regards h

Something wrong with that Census. I have the image and it says quite clearly that he was living with his parents, James and Mary and is four months old. Mary is 38 born at Crowcombe. There's a marriage 1 July 1838 at Wilton somerset James Perry son of Samuel Perry married Mary Ann Southwood daughter of Samuel Southwood, but there's no image so don't take my word for it.

John was baptised 15 Dec 1850 Have the image for that but it's on Ancesty

The GRO indexes give the mothers maiden name (https://www.gro.gov.uk). There's a John Perry's birth registered in the Wellington district, which is the same as the 1851 census district. The maiden name of the mother given is Wright. There is one for a Sarah Perry in 1848 also with the mother's maiden name Wright. I can't find one for Lydia though.

The other children's births would probably have been recorded in the Taunton registration district. The only possible matching ones I can find have different maiden names for their mothers. Samuel's is Bailey, and Emma in 1838 with Emmery.

This looks like them in the 1841 census (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MQ18-8YQ). So it seems unlikely that they have different mother's unless he married multiple Mary's.

The Wellington one - be careful because there is a Wellington ( Salop ) Union district. Salop is short for Shropshire !
