Welcome to WikiTree, Jim! Glad to have you aboard.
When it comes to using Ancestry information, we have to make sure that the people, dates, and places are properly sourced. One thing you don’t want to do is to use any trees that list only other trees as their source(s). Another problem can be created when linking actual sources (census records, death certificates, etc) from Ancestry, and folks who do not have an account there can’t see the sources without a paid membership.
Better: get an account at Family Search - https://www.familysearch.org/. The account is free. The links to there on the profiles you create provide sources that are free for others to look at to verify your information, confirm their own research, or assist others working to build our One Tree.
Also, let me add that you asked in the right place (G2G). Any, ANY questions you have can brought to the community. You’ll be amazed at how folks will do all they can to assist you.
I hope your experience here on WikiTree is as profitable as mine has been.
