Do you have locations for your Clemens? There were three George Clemens in PA in 1820: Union County, Mifflin County and Montgomery County. If his father Peter was in Pennsylvania there was only one: Union County. I'm only guessing Pennsylvania based on the grandsons birth.

Thanks, looking at 1820 shows marks in columns, but there is no definition at top to say what they mean, and the general directions for 1820 do not help. Please advise

Sorry, but I didn't see the "hint". The DAR doesn't have every Patriot but it takes a fair amount of documentation to qualify. That is, it needs more than a hint. Also, you need to beef up the sources. Peter Clemens has one source that says "See grandson's sources." Which grandson? Each profile should have a complete set of sources documenting their life. I do see a Peter Clemens in Pennsylvania who applied for Rev War Pension but you would need to prove that yours is the same person. You don't have a wife or a daughter listed and that is all Peter Clemens listed on his affidavit.

Could you. elaborate on the hint? Do you have information on what unit he might have fought in?

Peter Clemens said in his pension affidavit that the was sixty years old (In December, 1820), that he was living in Union County, PA with his wife Elizabeth who was 58, and their daughter Mena who was 13.  His pension application is available on Fold3 (a pay site, but many libraries have subscriptions) and would probably be worth reading to see if there is information that would clarify whether or not he is your ancestor.  The application should tell you where he lived when he enlisted, what unit he was in, who his officers were, and what actions he participated in.  Many list all the places the person has lived, some list family members.   There are also often affidavits from  neighbors or other men who served with the person.

Was looking at the sources more closely. There isn't enough to say anything about Peter yet. I originally said something else but changed it. Can't find anything in the info provided about Peter.

Spent some more time. The Grubs Church records aren't accessible without going to the Family History Center so I can't see exactly what it says, but OK, that would be a hint but not proof. You will need something that identifies which Peter Clemens is Georg's father. Anyway, I'm not seeing anything obvious other than the hint from the Grubb's Church reference. You still need to fill out the sources for Peter and Georg and try to find a mother for Georg. It is possible.
