UPDATED, Brick Wall, Identity of Johann Okon in Wittbrodt lineage

UPDATE 2019: Ok, my Ancestry membership expires soon. I have a brick wall with Johan (John) Okon, if anyone can help. There are a number of John Okons in Detroit, but I do not believe my 2nd grandfather emigrated to the USA as his wife died, now verified, died in West Prussia, Germany.

Wife (located baptismal certif below) Mary Nagorznik Okon listed, birth of daughter. She is my 2nd great-grandmother, 1825–1868   BIRTH 1 JAN 1825 • Zarnowitz, Neustadt, West Prussia, Prussia --  DEATH ABT. 1868 • Zarnowitz, Putzig, West Prussia, Prussia, Germany

Lineage, their daughter is my maternal great grandmother, Mary Marianna Okon Wittbrodt, 1848–1923  BIRTH 10 APR 1848 • Danzig, West Prussia, DEATH 10 OCT 1923 • Merritt, Bay, Michigan, USA

Having trouble verifying John Okon.

Lineage on maternal side for Marianna N. is to marry into Wittbrodt family.

Mary Nagorska, 1825– (Prussia) with two daughters, including Marianna Okon (my great grandmother for which I have a photo) and her sister, Anna Okun / Okuon appears to be correct.

Baptism

1848 • Zarnowitz, West Prussia, Poland

CITATION: Marianna Magdalena Okon, West Prussia Church Books Baptism: 1848 - Zarnowitz, West Prussia Parents: Johann Okon, Marianna Nagorznik

In Ancestry.com, there are 2 daughters listed for Johann and Marianna Zielke: Maria (1876-1901) and Anna (1872-1934). I have the same names, but with Mary Nagorska and have Mary Marianna (1848-1923) and Anna (1875-1932). These appear to be different people.

With this brick wall, any assistance would be appreciated.

Johann (John) Okon, Birth,

BIRTH Puck, Pomorskie, Poland (Prussia)

DEATH unknown, Germany

2nd great-grandfather

Hello Deborah,
It might be helpful if you try to locate other children of Johann Okon and Marianna Nagorznik/Nagorzny. There are quite few of them. The table below is taken from http://www.ptg.gda.pl (Pomeranian Genealogical Association)
Greetings,

Invaluable for dealing with a brick wall. Thank you!
Well, it depends. Without marriage certificate even the names of the witnesses on birth certs may be a clue.

Are you sure John was alive until 1910? There are possible hits on earlier death records:

Year    Record    Name    Surname                Parish        Place        Notes
1863    6    Johann     Okon                Żarnowiec    Żarnowiec    46 years old
1869    17    Johann     Okoń                Żarnowiec    Żarnowiec    56 years old
1872    29    Johann     Okoń                Żarnowiec    Żarnowiec    50 years old
1873    24    Johann     Okoń                Żarnowiec    Żarnowiec    49 years old
1875    4    Johann     Okoń                Żarnowiec    Żarnowiec    57 years old

In Puck (Putzig) we have a birth record in 1824 you can easily get from http://metryki.genbaza.pl

Year        Name    Surname                Parish    Place
1824        Johann     Okun                Puck    Puck

BUT...

Your Johann Okon probably died in 1863 because Marianna Nagorzny married her second husband in 1866:

Year    Record    Name    Surname    Name   Surname     Parish     Notes
1866    22    Joseph     Orzel      Magdalena   Okoń zd. Nagorzny    Żarnowiec  33yo/40yo

Unfortunately birth records from Puck on mentioned site are available since 1823.

Greetings!

No, I'm not sure. It may have been a placeholder. Will check and see what I can find on my other sources. Still, this is very helpful simply verifying spouse.  Can take another step now: Marianna Nagorznik, my 2nd grandmother verified, with my great grandmother now known as the eldest with siblings: Marianna Okon Wittbrodt

.
