Don't know what to do with child of mother, father unknown, that her husband legally adopts.

I did look at the discussion, but didn't see quite this situation. My aunt Scott-8749 had a child that the family says has unknown paternity Wells-5853 (I put him there because I started this profile when I was just joining & didn't realize I should have asked). His mother married Wells-5851 who immediately adopted the boy and raised him as his own. They had other children too. Do I include him with a note on the profile of his adopted father as a child or do I only put him as a child of the mother?  I hope that's clear. Thank you.

Yoou can find the answer there.  It says for living people and people with living relatives, either choice is satisfactory.

For older profiles, genetics should prevail.

Thanks for your answer, but my problem with this was from the perspective of one parent being known, mother, & the other half never able to be known- child result of a nasty situation & no name.  I had , of course already done some explaining in the body of the profile.  I put David's surname as Wells because that is what he was legally & no other name was available or ever will be available. There is no genetic profile on half of him & he doesn't have multiple parents; so I wasn't sure about what it said. He was only ever placed with his mother except in narrative.

I'm of the opinion that the biological parents should be on the profile, and other adoptive etc, should be in the narrative.

I believe it's how most people tend to do things :)
