Born in Texas?

Anna Mabel Post was born in Texas on May 3, 1875...  I'm not sure if that is true...   She married William Thomas Ellison in 1899 while living in Texas, however that marriage record is skin a bones with no information other than they were married....

I've searched the archives.com as well as .familysearch.org and turned up nothing on the birth of Anna Mabel Post...

Anyone that has access to more complete records for Texas please help if you can...

Trying to find out who the parents, brothers and sisters, or any other family members to the POST family in the 1870s can be found..

Thanks in advance to all that can help... .

Well all the census data says Texas.  I have bad news for you though, per the family tree wiki on Hamilton County, Texas, this happened:

1863, 1877, 1886--Courthouses and many county records were destroyed by fires in September 1863, March 1877, and February 1886.

https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Hamilton_County,_Texas_Genealogy

Ancestry is behaving badly today, and I can't seem to get to Hamilton County census for 1860, if it even exists

On the bright side, this may be why there ARE no records, which means Hamilton might be the right place to look for other Posts.

Ancestry has a record in California, San Francisco Area Funeral Home Records, with an image.  She died 2 Jul 1930 at Mt Zion Hospital, widow of Thomas Ellison.  Born 3 May 1875, Texas.  'No record' of father or mother.  The informant was Mrs H Sherman of Winnemucca, NV (not sure if that was Anna's address or Mrs Sherman's).

Thank you Herbert...  that could be either's address in NV....  I believe Mrs. Sherman is a Great Grand Daughter...

A great granddaughter providing info to the funeral home, for a woman who died at 55?  Seems unlikely.  I wonder if Mrs Sherman was a daughter-in-law, Mrs Sherman Ellison, and her name was recorded incorrectly?  Sherman and his wife Irma did live in Winnemucca in 1930:

"United States Census, 1930," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XKJL-CNZ : accessed 24 July 2018), Sherman Ellison in household of Allison W Lovell, Winnemucca, Humboldt, Nevada, United States; citing enumeration district (ED) ED 11, sheet 12A, line 24, family 356, NARA microfilm publication T626 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, 2002), roll 1296; FHL microfilm 2,341,031.

There might be a California death certificate, but most likely the same person provided the info for that.  Maybe worth a look anyway.

Also, since the marriage exists in index databases, there might be a marriage certificate on file in Hamilton County.  You would have to look up how to order one.  Sometimes they have family details, sometimes not.  From what Wendy said, a birth certificate sounds impossible.  Another possibility is birth or wedding announcements in the local newspaper.  Local genealogical/historical societies usually have things like that, but usually you have to show up in person, old school.  Good luck!

Herbert thank you!    I'm assuming that is how the got a "Death Certificate" if in a different state.     Anna Ellison passed away in NV...

Thank you again for your help!

Gene, who has a death certificate?  Have you seen it?

Anna is buried in Nevada, but she died of cancer at a San Francisco hospital.

"California Death Index, 1905-1939," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QKSM-1HGV : 8 November 2017), Anna Ellison, 02 Jul 1930; citing 39117, Department of Health Services, Vital Statistics Department, Sacramento; FHL microfilm 1,686,048.

Here's the Ancestry link:  https://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?indiv=1&dbid=2118&h=285785&tid=&pid=&usePUB=true&_phsrc=SEY3703&_phstart=successSource

Additional details from the funeral home record image:  She died 8 PM, 2 Jul 1930, having been in the hospital since 29 Jun.  "Usual residence:  Winnemucca, Nev;  Place of burial:  ditto; Date:  Ship July 3/30."

The previous image is the bill from Martin & Brown for the funeral of Anna Ellison, charged to Mrs H Sherman (maybe one of Anna's daughters married a Sherman?), Winnemucca, Nevada.  Total for casket, shipping, fees $261.12.

No doubt whatsoever it's the same person.  She died in California, so that should be where her death certificate was issued.

She has a son named Sherman Henry Ellison so maybe it’s was charged to his wife. This is such awesome information. Thank you!!
That sounds right.  Sherman's wife's name was Irma.  Between the hospital and the funeral home, her name got miscommunicated.  You're welcome!

Sorry to bother you again but where do I find the image that shows: the bill from Martin & Brown for the funeral of Anna Ellison, charged to Mrs H Sherman, Winnemucca, Nevada.  Total for casket, shipping, fees $261.12.

You need an Ancestry subscription.  Click the Ancestry link I provided above.  Click 'View' to see the image with all the death details.  Click the left-hand arrow to look at the preceding image - that's the bill.

I have requested her birth certificate from the state of Texas and they couldn’t locate it. I also requested a death certificate from Nevada and they couldn’t locate that either.

She is actually by husbands great grandma and my father in law (her grandson) has been searching for this information for years. Getting to the bottom of this would mean so much!!

Look for Death Certificate #39117 in California.
Thank you so much. I had no idea. I’ll do that right away!
