Looking for the parents and grandparents of Rubina Ryan from Limerick Ireland

+4 votes
I have a DNA match with a fellow kiwi whose great grandmother was an Irish woman named Rubina Ryan (Born Ireland 1856 - died New Zealand 1925).

Accordng to Rubina's marriage certificate (She married George Connelly in 1887 in NZ - but that is NOT relevent to this question), Rubina's parents were Michael Ryan and Mary Madden.

Rubina was born in Doone, Limerick, Ireland around 1856.  She was in NZ by 1887 - and I have no idea how or when she arrived - and I desperately need to know who Rubina's Irish grandparents were.

If someone could maybe find a record of marriage, possibly in Limerick for Michael Ryan and Mary Madden, some time before 1856, that would be great.

And if they would find the parents of Michael and Mary - that would be even better!!

I also want to try and find the connection between Michael Ryan and Mary madden to my newly found ancestors - James Ryan and Johanna Madden - probably also from Limerick

Thank you

Robynne: Often marriage records are not found. If Baptismal records are

prevalent in the time period.Baptised by the Catholic Diocese. This means

the Mother and Father are in good standing with the church.Ireland records

are very tough, some old records cannot be transcribed, records are held

by many different entities. Some have not been released by the Ireland National Trust. Most all Census records were destroyed by Irish Gov"t

during a paper shortage.too be ground up and make new paper.
And this is gonna make it much harder to see how one person is related to me through DNA. They show up as a 2nd to 4th cousin, but we can't quite get their tree to go back far enough to find that MCRA.

Thanks Anyway Wayne.
