What Is the Correct Current Last Name?

Question

Adeline Hildreth married Silas D. Sanford in 1861, and they had at least two children. Although Adaline and Silas Sanford were together in 1870, it looks like they split, as Silas remarried in 1871. In 1877, Adeline Sanford married Aaron Hange, and the 1880 US Census shows her as Adeline Hange (no husband present), living with her mother and two Hange children (their birth name was Sanford). I don't know what happened to Aaron, and I can't find Adeline between 1880 and her death. When Adeline died in 1928, her Death Certificate showed her as Adeline Sanford, widow of Silas Sanford, and the informant was Ernest Sanford, one of her two Sanford children.  

Normally, I would use Hange, her last known married name as her Current Last Name, but in this case, her last official record was under the last name Sanford. What should be Adeline's Current Last Name?

Are you positive that the Adeline who married Aaron Hange was the same as the Adeline who married Silas D. Sanford?

All the evidence points to that being the case.  On the 1880 US Census, Adeline Hange has two children living with her, Jennie and Ernest B Hange.  Jennie is the daughter shown as Jennie Sanford on the 1870 US Census.  Ernest's birth record shows that his father was Silas Sanford, and he is the one who was the informant on Adeline's Death Certificate in 1928. Also, in 1880, Dolly "Breuer" is shown living with Adeline.  This would be Dolly/Daisy (Unknown) Hildreth Brewer, Adeline's mother.

Her current last name will be the one she had when she died - which was Sanford.
