I have got a Thomas Wilmott in my tree now which I would like to complete before putting him up for adoption but I was wondering if it is possible that the originally was williamett I know other variations are Willmot, wilmott and Wilmot but I have found a possible christening for him

His parents were Michael and Fanny Willmot( No Last name at birth for Fanny yet)

Stephanie, where have you found him as a Willamett?

on familysearch

This is a possible christening for him

"England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975," database, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NL71-BVY : 11 February 2018, Thomas Williamett, 30 Jun 1839); citing , index based upon data collected by the Genealogical Society of Utah, Salt Lake City; FHL microfilm 1,752,217.

I have all the census for him and he is with his parents in 1851 below

"England and Wales Census, 1851," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SGDX-BJB : 20 October 2017), Thomas Willmot in household of Michael Willmot, Castle Donington, Derbyshire, England; citing Castle Donington, Derbyshire, England, p. 22, from "1851 England, Scotland and Wales census," database and images, findmypast (http://www.findmypast.com : n.d.); citing PRO HO 107, The National Archives of the UK, Kew, Surrey.

There's a good chance that's him. But that's an indexed record so I'd be hesitant to change the LNAB based on it.  I'd want to see the original or an image of the original.  Especially if his parents spell their name differently in all those other records.  Have you found birth/baptism records of his siblings or his parents' marriage? How is it spelled on those?
Shall be looking for them when I work my way back again asjust putting Thomas' children in at the moment, but I will do

This seems likely to be his mother's birth/christening record.

Based on the christening record you found for Thomas and the marriage record of his parents, I would go with Williamett as LNAB and Wilmott as CLN.
Thank you debs for records posted great help

You're very welcome. smiley

this is so weird - I was just trying to sort out some Wilmoths yesterday - maybe they are connected up!
that would be pretty cool Navarro
Derbyshire register images at Ancestry show this spelling in the marriage and christening and parents were living in Castle Donington according to the baptism.

Steph do you want page and entry numbers.
Only if it is not too much trouble as it will save a bit of time Hilary. Thank you
