I first uploaded a GEDCOM in 2004 but didn't introduce myself or stay and learn. Then came back early this year and learned how to 'compare' my folks and get them accepted. But I still never began at the beginning with a mentor to show me the ropes. Didn't even know that was possible but just now saw on another person's page that this was the way to go. Sigh . . .I sure was doing everything the hard way and I'd like to back up and learn the right way. I thought I knew just a bit of wiki, but I sure didn't know WikiTree.
So I would like to introduce myself and get to know the good folk at WikiTree. I'm was born Jane Alice Jackson, more recently known as Janie Jackson Kimble. Born in Wood County, WV, 89 years ago and have lived in Florida since the early 50s. I've been doing Jackson research abt 14-15 years and it has become a full-time addiction. I think of genealogy as a jig-saw puzzle with NO side pieces - one never knows where the trail will end.
I've traced my Jackson line back to immigrant Robert Jackson of Hempstead, New York; then branched out a bit and began working on other Jackson puzzles. Mainly just to differentiate between various Jackson lines; so many have the same first names in the same location.
So now I've got my profile up and 2 to-do lists. I want to eventually work on the Jackson One Name Study but I have a LOT to learn first. I haven't categorized anything yet and my uploaded folks are so scattered; I need somehow to get better organized. My desktop database is over 25,000 and I will never have time to get it all uploaded by myself. But I am certainly willing to share if others are interested in helping with the job. (It is a mixture of well-sourced and not-so-well sourced info.)
I'm looking forward to learning a lot more and meeting a lot of other researchers!
