How to add my great grandfather that is on another link

John Cornelius Smith is my great grandfather.  My grandmother Ethel Lucille Smith Thoms father.

Can you be a little more specific with your question? Are you saying that your great-grandfather is linked somewhere else? I could not find a match for John Cornelius, so I’m assuming that you might mean a different great-grandfather. Any details of what you want help with would assist us in knowing how to respond. Actually you will have to merge the two profiles named Ethel Smith (Daughter of John Smith)  first in order to be able to connect your great grandfather

I would suggest that firstly you ADOPT the profile - (Smith-11046) - and then secondly, you merge that profile with the new one that you have just made.

SInce only the lower number profile survives, your new profile will be merged into the older profile.

After the merge of https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Smith-11046 and

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Smith-164080 then you use the WikiTree ID: Smith-11088 to connect the profile to your tree.

Since the John Smith profile is already attached to the daughters (11046), profile, wouldn't that connection be automatic?

That was my thinking which is why I didnlt mention it.

You are correct. Robynne, either way, will work as both of the daughter's two profiles will need to be merged either before or after she adopts the profile of her great-grandfather. Sandra can adopt both the profile for her great-grandfather (Smith-11088) and the daughter's profile (Smith-11046 ) then propose the merge of the two daughters profiles.
