William Pearce was born in Seven Hills NSW and married Emma Hillas in 1868. Does anyone know anything about his family in Australia. Where did the family come from originally? Thanks!

Hi Gillian

I think William may have been a son of Matthew Woodward Pearce of Seven Hills who was the son of Matthew Pearce, a free settler who arrived in the 1790s. I don't have any more sources on hand as this is just from memory, but this family is well documented as among the first free settlers in the colony. A William Pearce married Emma Hillas in 1865 and Matthew Pearce married Mary Ann Hillas in 1864, see NSWBDM indexes.

Hi Vivienne

Great to hear from you! Thanks for your input. It will be good to get the original settler on WikiTree then .. I don't think he is on there yet.

His Parents were named Mathew W PEARCE and Mary Ann BRIEN.

They married in 1834

Children found

Robert 1836, Mary Ann 1838, William 1840, George H 1842, James 1844, George H 1847, Martha S 1848, John H 1850,  George W 1852, Mary A E 1855

With some names repeated there has obviously been some deaths, but unfortunately I have not been able to find them, needs more time to do that than I have just now.
