I want to make sure everyone is aware of two very important blogs that were published this week.

http://thednageek.com/gordon/

This information can help many as they work with close familial relationships.

Very interesting--thanks!

One of these days I need to get my head around how to deal with DNA matches from one of my GGFs (maternal grandmother's father). He came from a very intertwined lineage of Seventh Day Baptists. My grandmother always said his parents were unrelated, despite having the same surname before marriage, but I very much doubt that.

Anyway, that means my numbers are consistently too small for FTDNA's estimates of relationships. I don't have everything mapped out, but so far many of the matches with Coons &/or Burdicks in their lineage are no closer than 6th-8th cousins, but related via multiple paths, so FTDNA says "2nd-4th cousin."
