One or two trees? Father unknown

Problem: several possible fathers among the many James Burns cousins.  We don't know which James Burns is the father.

We have the mother's tree (Vera Kingsmill) back to the 1500s.

We have a Burns/Byrnes/Byrne tree back to John Byrne 1823 married to Winifred 1821 with one son, Laurence Burns 1851 married to Ann Tracey 1850.

By 1907 there are many James Burns.  One is likely to be the father of Gwenda Cathleen Kingsmill 1950.

Question #1:  Do we need two trees?  One for the mothers side and one for the unknown father's side.

Question #2:  If we do need two trees, how is that accomplished?

Question#3:  If we do not need two trees, how can one be used without specifying a father?

There is only one tree at Wikitree, so no you do not need two trees. If you do not know the correct father than you do not attach a father. If you have some theories as to who the father may have been then you can add this information in research notes on the profile to help other researches work with subsequent clarification of parentage. You can include links to the potential fathers in the research notes.

There is only one tree here.  You can make the maternal line profiles, and omit any unknown fathers.  It looks like that's already done.

For the unknown father's side, I don't see how you could make any profiles for people about whom you don't have any info.  Maybe I don't understand the question?
