Barr Family of Germany

Question

Barr Family - I am an ancestor of the Andreas Barr from Bayern Germany. He came to New York, America in 1885 - until his death in 1904.

His parents were Sephen Bear & Anna Hoedren. Andreas Bar came to America with his brother Ludwig. I am looking for more info about this family.

Bavarian church records are becoming available online, but to use these resources effectively, you need to know where in Bavaria your family is from. It is also helpful to know their religion. While much of Bavaria is Catholic, there are Evangelical and Jewish groups as well.

I too am searching out my Bayern ancestors of a line with Berg, Bar, Baer and von Berg as the line goes into greater-past times. (Bar is spelled with and w-out an umlaut. They are from Huffenhardt (u-umlaut).

If Baer/Bar were a commonly used name, wouldn't we see more information than we have seen about them???
