Lucy, all downvotes are good for is making you feel something.  You can't benefit from them in any way, since there's no way to know what you did to earn them.  So feel honored or punished or whatever, your choice!

I'd be a liar if I said I didn't notice my down-votes however at-least for the most part I endeavored to answer a question to the best of my ability if someone felt need to disagree and down-vote it that's the pillow they need to sleep on. And I would love to find the 6 down votes I have given. Darn android phones

I have a principle of not giving down votes, but one has sneaked in somewhere and I cannot figure out where to reverse it. Hope it didn't end up on you Shaun.

Haha Lynda, never mind some of the Astronaught's have a hoard of down votes so it doesn't phase me at all. I guess we all earn them at some point be it a mistake or be it deliberate. I haven't given any out at all not even by mistake so I feel good. I don't think I would be able to sleep knowing that I gave someone a down vote without them really deserving it.

Not too far behind you Gaile. I can usually hazard a guess as to which of my responses have generated the irritation for someone to assign me a down vote. Quite a few of them pop up every time I recommend the use of Scotlandspeople or make some other comment about getting value from a pay site.

I came very close to leaving Wikitree before I even got started as I racked up about half a dozen down votes on my first day on G2G. Some kind soul later explained to me that it was becuase I was using answers when I should have used comments, so I deciede to grit my teeth and stay
