Here's a resource for Massachusetts sea captains:  "Old Marblehead Sea Captains and the ships in which they sailed."

The book is great resource, but Capt. Philip Fox is not among them.

Captain Fox is in this one.

Some lovely detail in here!  I see some of my Pitman, Snow, and Trefry ancestors mentioned. I wish it went back a little farther in time. I've read some great stories of the adventures of Marblehead sailors and their ships, including an encounter with the pirate Ed Low off the shores of Nova Scotia in 1722.

Thanks for sharing!

Definitely interesting resources. I can see why Fox wasn't in the Marblehead book. Cohasset isn't very close to Marblehead. Still, good resources.

I have a friend from Marblehead.  She says you can find another Marbleheader by saying "whip" in any crowd.

It looks like Philip Fox was born in Lincolnshire, England.  His profile has him born in Cohasset.  Both sons' death records list father as born in England.  I'm still working on him.
