Elizabeth,

I would be a bit hesitant to connect James to this family in Columbia based on the FindAGrave birth place of Herkimer. Edith Sophia Mangus may have been born in Herkimer, Herkimer County, New York, but Columbia, Herkimer County, New York is a ways away from there. More proof is needed that James was born in Herkimer County, New York, I think. laugh

Jerry,

I didn't see a profile here for James Myers, b: 1841 on WikiTree when I did a quick search. There is a profile started at FamilySearch for James:

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LCHD-5Z8

It doesn't give his parents' names but does give Edith's family. It says they were married about 1874 in New York, but James and (I suspect) his brother William are farmers in Ruby Valley in 1870.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MZM7-3RL

Here is the 1880 Census for James, Edith and son, Albert:

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MDCZ-339

There is a 1900 for (possible) brother, William. He was living in Elko County, Carlin, Elko, and Lamoille Valley precincts.

Since you live in that area, you should see where local records are kept and try to obtain copies of James and Edith's marriage certificate (circa 1874-75) and James and William's death certificates. They may hold clues to the exact place in New York where James is from and parents' names. Then you can go from there.
