I recently added a death date for a family member, and a notice immediately popped up. stating that the person's name should be open. Kind of a kick in the teeth. It was hurtful and really upsetting. It would have been better if the word PLEASE was added to the notification. i.e Would you please make this person's site open.? Not all deaths are 100 years old.

Sarah, could you give us a link to the profile you’re asking about? Thanks!
It may be a bug causing the message to be posted on a recent bereavement Pip, in which case she may not wish to post the link here.
Ahhh, good point, Lynda.

My apologies, Sarah, if I caused you any distress. I would never wish to do that.

Condolences on your recent loss.

What likely happened is that the profile was unlisted (set on black privacy) because of still living status).  When you added a death date you would have received notification that the profile would need the privacy changed.  But you don't need to set the privacy to open just yet if you don't want to.  It just can't be set on black (unlisted).  You can set it on yellow or another color if you like.
