If you reject or confirm all suggested matches you can use compare pop-ups to create & improve profiles.

If I confirm all suggested matches, what next? Will it add them to my tree? This process is exceedingly tedious, considering I already did all of this work on a different site. I fully appreciate the necessity for accuracy. I feel it might be less tedious to reevaluate my entries from the tree; this is probably psychological. I'm starting to get the feeling I do not fully understand the methods through which this platform operates. Could someone tell me what exactly happens when I reject or confirm the matches?

I do want to do this correctly. Thank you, in advance, for the assistance.

No, the remaining profiles aren't automatically added; you have to add them one at a time.

Yes, it's tedious. However, it means that you have the chance to clean up the biography and sources before adding the profile, instead of adding hundred or thousands of profiles full of GEDCOM cruft that someone then has to clean up. (I speak from experience. I still run across profiles from my initial GEDCOM import five years ago that had gone off my radar and badly need editing; it's much easier to fix the profiles as I add them.)

I also strongly recommend AGAINST using GEDCOMpare to edit profiles created by other people, at least until you've added a bunch of profiles and are familiar with what kind of editing of the biography and sources is needed. So many people use GEDCOMpare to add junk to profiles (not even good new sources and data, just crap that they don't bother to merge into the existing biography) and then leave it for the PM to clean up; don't be like them.

Thank you. The primary benefit I see in my switch to Wikitree is the opportunity to reevaluate and verify my work. I began my project originally on MyHeritage.com with the primary goal of being correct and precise. So, it only makes sense to maintain that same vigilance.

Thanks again for your thorough response.

While I agree that it is rather tedious, it does provide another opportunity to review the accuracy.

Hi Keith,

I am in total agreement with Sharon. And I too am repairing old gedcom imports from when I first started as I too really didn't understand the nuances of WikiTree.

This page might give you a good overview of GEDCOMpare with some hints and help pages.

GEDCOM File Usage Primer

Not perfect, still more to add, but some good insights.
