New Netherland profile, too many name versions

+5 votes
I am sourcing profiles in the unsourced category in New York.   I found a
marriage for Adriaan Bradt to Zelia Van  Zanten in 1738 and entered it.  My
problem is the various names given in other marriage and parentage of his children.  His name is also spelled Brad, Brat, Bratt.  Her name is given as
Zelia, Celia, and Selia.  Also as Van Sante.  I have trouble with all of the
variants of his first marriage and children.  I didn't even attempt to follow up his second marriage to Lydia and it's versions.  Before I create
duplicates  all over the place I am asking if better heads can prevail and add to his profile with correct LNABs for everyone concerned?  I think they
would fall under the New Netherlands era.

Hi Beulah,

I have ancestors in the Dutch Reformed Church in ALbany as well including VanZanten, Bradt, and Flansburg. These are especially difficult so early in the history. I have some records I can fill in on the page, but not sure how to source them through Family Tree. If you have Ancestry, I'll give you the link there. It's not much, but I hope it helps!

I don't have ancestry but feel free to put links on any of these profiles.
It might help someone else.  Family search gives so many versions
that I decided I'm not expert enough to pick the preferred LNAB for them.
I rather leave it open than make a bunch of duplicates .  I found this
profile while adding to profiles declared unsourced in New York.   They are not any relatives of mine.
If you are part of this line, then we are distantly related. Celia Van Zanten's father, Joseph Janze Van Zanten is my 7th great grandfather!

I am sorry - I thought sure I could come close with my seventh great grandfather or his brothers descendants but I do not see him - several have no children listed so it is probably in there some where - Look at my guy Bradt-2 - he and his brother are the start of that line most likely  - and the name thing can be quite difficult - going through this two brothers male children and grandchildren I saw all the spellings for Bradt except Brad - and some had several variations within the family group so just keep being aware - the LNAB is what is on his birth record if you find one - good luck and if he does connect up with my line somehow, let me know so I can fill in whoever was not fully entered before.

Despite New Netherland settlers being Dutch - these folks were from Norway

Finally broke through and found the link that connects Adrian to Albert Andriessen Bradt (Bradt-2) through his son Jan Albertse (Bradt) Bratt (Bradt-10) and his son Andries Janse Bratt (Brath-4) but am having quite a difficult time determining the mother of this Andries some sources giving Geesie Janse and some giving Maria Post -

so Albert came over in 1636/1637 on the Arms of the Rensselaerwyck with his wife Aefie and his two oldest children, (my sixth ggmother) Eva and Barent and they had a son on the way who ened up with the name Storm van der Zee as he was born in a storm at sea - after two more daughters they had three more sons - Jan being the middle of those born in 1648.

He baptized twins Andries and Pieter January 10 1686 but as I say still unsure of the mother

Andries married Weentje Rosa and they are the parents of Adrian!
