You might try contacting the Sons of the American Revolution branch covering Dekalb County Alabama. (Sorry I don't know the organization well enough to give you contact info.) The SAR in Arkansas has practically adopted my 7 great grandfather's gravesite (installing a newer headstone, having ceremonies at graveside, etc.)... I think this is rather common for Revolutionary War Soldiers.

Obediah Martin Benge Fielder, born 1789 who died April 1857, was buried at Covington, Newton, GA in 1857 at the Fielder Cemetery.
