If a profile is merged and is not accurate, how do I undo this?

A fellow genealogist has merged the account of one of my ancestors. They aren't connected as his line mention children in a completely different place, the US, while my ancestors were all based around London, England. The children and spouses also don't match. How do I undo the inaccuracy? Thank you.

Anon, you’ll need to give us a profile ID so we can look at it.

Once merged, you would have to create a new profile and separate the info out. There isn't an undo for merges.

It will also be helpful to explain the situation to the two Wikitreers who were involved in approving the merge so that they can learn that locational discrepancies should be checked before giving approval. Also, after you have created the new profile it may be a good idea to include a note on each profile explaining why they are not the same person so that the same mistake does not happen again.
Thank you. There was no request to merge John Graves with my John Grove, they simply merged without emailing a side by side comparison for comment or approval.

Your response is appreciated,

Mistakes happen sometimes Sonya. The best way to avoid mistaken merges is to ensure that profiles are adequately sourced so that it is easy to see that two profiles are not one individual. If you have lost your John Grove as part of an unfortunate merge then easiest way to resolve it is to recreate him and ensure that you mark him as not matching the Graves profile that he disappeared into.
