I have adopted an orphan profile, one of a batch from an entire family line, that looks and acts funny.

I recently adopted this orphan profile, and it sure do look and act funny, you betcha!

Here are the details:

The Public Profile has this where the biography & sources would normally show up:

Nobody has entered any text or sources for Nancy yet.

The Private Profile has this:

"Nobody has entered anything about Nancy yet. What do you know about Nancy's life story to get things started?

[education?]

[career or job?]

[home location?]

[hobbies or interests?]"

each line has a hyperlink that goes back to the Edit Profile

From the Private View, clicking on the Edit tab brings up a typical Edit Profile page, with the space for Biography and Sources completely blank.

But, if I click on any of the links that show on the Private Profile page, it takes me to basically the same Edit Profile page, except this is in the box:

== Biography ==

Nancy was born in 1817. She passed away after 1880.

<ref>

A source for this information is needed.

</ref>

== Sources ==

<references />

There are no categories or templates attached, so far as I can tell. And, there is nothing in the Changes history that shows anything being done.

To my rookie Wikitree-er eyes, it is puzzling.

I have no problem with getting to work on this, but I prefer to wait until I find out what, and how, this was sorcery was done. It might even prove useful at some point.

Looking forward to your input.

The only thing weird about is that the text box is completely empty.  I think the behavior will revert to normal if you enter this (at minimum):

== Biography ==

== Sources ==

<references />

* "Ohio, County Marriages, 1789-2013," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XD4V-2JL : 10 December 2017), Andrew Moler and Nancy Vance, 20 Mar 1834; citing Gallia, Ohio, United States, reference p244; county courthouses, Ohio; FHL microfilm 317,652.

Herbert's answer is on target. You are seeing the messages that are generated automatically when a profile has nothing in the Text Box. Add content to the text box to make the messages go away.

Answer edited to throw in bonus marriage record.  laugh

Thanks for confirming, Ellen!

Thanks for the Best Answer, Rick!
Thanks Ellen. Your mention of messages being generated automatically kinda confirmed what I suspected, and probably went the furthest in answering my question. For the life of me I just couldn't figure out how the profile was made to look/act like that otherwise.

Thanks!
Thanks, Herbert, and especially thanks for the look-up!

My pleasure, Ron!  Thanks for adopting these folks!  yes

Someone created the profile with birth/death data but didn't add anything to the bio or any sources. If you can contribute, please do!
