Was George Shepherd physically created out of thin air?

Here’s a tough nut to crack. This George Shepherd, who may have murdered his second wife and gotten away with it, just shows up owning land, marrying, having children in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. To no avail, several of us, descendants, can find no parentage. Oral history has him born in Scotland, but we’re not so sure, hence the double birthplace on his profile. Was he born  in Spotsylvania? Dunno! Any Virginia specialists out there who might be able to help? His profile has pertinent info. Many thanks!

These types can be so much fun! I had a great grandfather I was convinced had been kicked off the saucer on its way to Roswell. He appeared first when he married his first wife. Most records of his existence are wrong with most of the details.

Have you read through the films of the court and church records in Spotsylvania County? Our ancestors were fairly litigious so there is some chance he took a neighbor to court or vice versa. Sometimes tidbits of useful information can be found in those records.

A saucer. That’s a good one! Gotta remember it. I’ll also check out those Spotsylvania records. Good leads, Doug, thanks.
Since you know where he had land, was it close to a county line? If so, check there as well. Have you used the tools at the Library of Virginia and the Virginia Genealogical Society? LVA is a great resource.
Doug, I needed that laugh today! Thanks!

Now gonna watch some old "X-Files".

I think the Stanton siblings were aliens too. No parents, no records. Time for a yDNA test for male Shepard’s. Cathy
