Hi Kathy and welcome to G2G!  You can't delete profiles from our shared tree.  You can correct erroneous relationships, though.  If you link to the profile, someone will give you specific instructions for how to do that.

I am wondering if your problem is just with a relationship connection rather than a merge that went wrong. If it is a merge issue then, since you cannot unmerge, the only way to return to two separate people is to recreate one of them. If it just a wrongly connected relationship then that can be fixed using the edit tab. In edit mode you will see relationships at the right of the page and can delete, change or add them. If this will have an impact for another profile manager then it would be a good idea to discuss the change with them.

I believe there's a problem with your terminology...

when you say "merge" -- we think of combining two different profiles into a single profile. This can't be undone, but can be fixed by recreating.

but it sounds like you actually mean, "connecting" relationships to your branch of the tree (father, mother, children, siblings, spouse, etc.)

and when you say "delete" -- we think you mean to completely erase the existence of... (which we don't allow, except under very special circumstances)

In order to "delete"/remove a mistaken connected relationship, go to the Edit tab of one of the affected profiles. On the right side, there are several links for add/remove father, mother, children, spouse, etc. Click the link and follow the steps (which may involve scrolling all the way to the bottom of the next page)
